Bulunmaz Hint Kumaşı Hikayesi Gerçekten Şaşıracaksınız!

Bulunmaz Hint Kumaşı Deyimi; 1612’de İngilizler Hindistan’ı işgal ettiler ve sömürgeye ticaret merkezi kurarak başladılar. Dönemin usta çıkrıkçıları tarafından dokunan Hint kumaşları İngilizlerin ilk hedefi oldu. İngilizler pahalı olan Hint kumaşının yerine kendi tekstil fabrikalarında ürettikleri kumaşları daha ucuza pazarladılar. Fakat İngiliz kumaşları Hintliler tarafından pek ilgi görmedi. Daha pahalı olmasına rağmen kendi yerli kumaşlarını tercih ettiler.

İngilizlerin Cani Planı Neydi?

Bunun üzerine İngilizler Hint kumaşını piyasadan kaldırmak ve kendi ürettikleri kumaşları satabilmek için canice bir yönteme başvurdular. El tezgahlarında kumaş dokumalarını ve düğüm atmalarını engellemek amacıyla Hintli çıkrıkçıların özellikle baş parmaklarını ve ellerini kestiler. Artık Hint kumaşını dokuyabilecek ustalar olmadığı için bulunmaz oldu.

İngilizler, Hint kumaşının kendi mallarına rakip olmaması için 40 bin Hint ustasının parmaklarını kesmiş ve o zamandan bu zamana Hint kumaşı bir daha üretilememiştir.

Böylece İngiliz kapitalizminin bir sonucu olarak “Bulunmaz Hint Kumaşı” deyimi ortaya çıktı.
